SEGUCE TOGO: MEET THE GOVERNMENT’S AMBITION TO MAKE TOGO A LOGISTICS HUB

At the beginning of the 2010s, the Togolese authorities aimed to make the port of Lomé a sub-regional logistics hub. In parallel with the large investments made in physical infrastructure, they decided to provide the port with a one-stop shop for foreign trade. Thus began the project which would lead to the creation of SEGUCE Togo, the result of a public-private partnership between the Togolese state, Bureau Veritas and SOGET, technical partner.

THE GUCE, AN INCREASED PERFORMANCE

After certain obstacles encountered during the first years of its creation, the solution is now fully deployed and has even slightly exceeded the initially planned scope. Over time and as the technical and procedural environment changes, SEGUCE Togo has continually updated the tool to adapt it to the new needs of the community. The integration of the activities of the free dry port of Adetikopé is the most notable recent example. This performance has contributed to placing the port of Lomé sustainably among the most efficient ports on the continent.

EXTEND THE GUCE TOWARDS A COMMUNITY SYSTEM PORT

With the end of the concession looming, the authorities are already thinking about the future solution which will accompany the continued progress of the port of Lomé. Therefore, the establishment of a Port Community System (PCS) with a wider scope than that of the current GUCE is envisaged. SEGUCE Togo is already thinking in this direction in order to propose a new offer responding both to the improvements desired by the authorities, but also to the additional needs expressed by users.
